Wicked Victorian Boston
Dr. Charles L Blood
Quack Doctor.
Dr. Charles L. Blood had a sumptuously decorated medical office on Harrison Avenue where he administered his miraculous invention, oxygenized air— a cure for impure conditions of the blood; all diseases of the nose, throat and lungs; paralysis; epilepsy; neuralgia; rheumatism; and scrofula. The cure was heavily advertised, and the office thrived for more than a decade, but after Blood sold the practice and left Boston, the new owner discovered that oxygenized air had no medicinal value whatsoever.
